Where was this book when I had BIG FEELINGS as a child? An excellent introduction for children to understand their feelings。

Keesha Tucker

I think it's great to teach feeling identification, but odd to tell kids how to feel about certain colors。 I am particularly uncomfortable with telling children that black is the color of fear。 I think it was well intentioned, but doesn't read well to me I think it's great to teach feeling identification, but odd to tell kids how to feel about certain colors。 I am particularly uncomfortable with telling children that black is the color of fear。 I think it was well intentioned, but doesn't read well to me 。。。more

Libro per i bambini che iniziano a imparare a leggere ma consigliato anche agli over 40 che non sanno cosa e quali siano le emozioni。 Non è mai tardi per imparare。。。

Uses colours as an indication of feelings and that is ok not to feel ok all the time。

A great way to introduce young children or children with SEND to different emotions and how we can deal with them in a healthy way。

Très joli album pour enfants qui permet de reconnaître et d’apprivoiser différentes émotions。 Je conseille aussi le jeu de plateau (jeu de société)。

This book is great for explaining emotions and how to express them to younger children。 It can be used to help children understand what they are feeling through the different colours of the colour monster。

Amy Van Deventer

An excellent book to show children it’s ok to talk about your different feelings and how we experience all of the different emotions。 It can be overwhelming for children who doesn’t understand ‘feelings’ and the colour monster is a lovely friend for any child to have to help convey emotions。 It also encourages children to open up and have discussions around different emotions。

Such a good follow along story for my occupational therapy kids! They loved guessing the emotions of the monster (and correcting me that the monster doesn’t match the zones of regulation 😂)

Louise Brown

An amazing pop-up picture book exploring emotion with colour and the metaphor of bottling emotion up

I remember seeing this book and knowing immediately I had to buy it。 My son was 4 years old and he was going through a phase where he was having trouble expressing his feelings。 This is a great example of a "character versus self" conflict。 The title and cover art were enough to know that this would be the perfect book for us。 The author does a great job describing feelings and makes them relatable for a young child。 The pop up illustrations are beautiful, unique, and larger than life。 I recomme I remember seeing this book and knowing immediately I had to buy it。 My son was 4 years old and he was going through a phase where he was having trouble expressing his feelings。 This is a great example of a "character versus self" conflict。 The title and cover art were enough to know that this would be the perfect book for us。 The author does a great job describing feelings and makes them relatable for a young child。 The pop up illustrations are beautiful, unique, and larger than life。 I recommend this book for parents of young children and preschool age teachers。 。。。more

Tunnete teemal on lastele palju raamatuid。 Kuid minul isiklikult on kollide vastu nõrkus (v。a ninakollid, keda ma paaniliselt kardan ja väldin!)。 Ja te lihtsalt vaadake neid illustratsioone, see koll on nii südamlik ning armas, isegi hirm, kurjus, kõik on nii ehedalt ja kuidagi hinge puudutavalt joonistatud, et sul tekivad kohesed emotsioonid (eelkõige ma tahaks seda kolli kodustada)。 Minu meelest on hämmastav, et pildi abil suudab kunstnik sinus nii kiirelt nii palju eri tundeid esile kutsuda。 Tunnete teemal on lastele palju raamatuid。 Kuid minul isiklikult on kollide vastu nõrkus (v。a ninakollid, keda ma paaniliselt kardan ja väldin!)。 Ja te lihtsalt vaadake neid illustratsioone, see koll on nii südamlik ning armas, isegi hirm, kurjus, kõik on nii ehedalt ja kuidagi hinge puudutavalt joonistatud, et sul tekivad kohesed emotsioonid (eelkõige ma tahaks seda kolli kodustada)。 Minu meelest on hämmastav, et pildi abil suudab kunstnik sinus nii kiirelt nii palju eri tundeid esile kutsuda。 Sa suudad koheselt kolli tundega samastuda。 Imeline raamat。 Ja lõpus see roosa armastust täis kollike。。。。。 (kas saab armuda lasteraamatusse :) 。。。more

This book is a great way to help young children understand their emotions。 Some children struggle to understand what they feel and why they feel the way they do and in some cases this can causedistress to children and cause them to get upset or sometimes agressive。 once children have a full understanding of why they feel the way they do this can help them build the foundations to realise how to control these feelings and react accourdingling。

。。。more

I really enjoyed the concept of breaking down emotions, what they mean and associating them with colors。 I also am not a fan of the breakdown of colors into certain emotions。 If and when I use this during a story time, I would definitely have a conversation with the kiddos about how their emotions can be any color they want them to be- it is so subjective。 Illustrations are AMAZING and cute and relatable, especially since emotions can be a real monster sometimes。

I alter the text when I read this to my kids to say something like, "Sometimes we feel lots of things at once。 Our emotions get jumbled, and that's okay。" I don't think it's realistic or advisable to compartmentalize so rigidly as to put distinct feelings in jars。 But the monster is really cute and I am happy to read this with some slight modifications。 I alter the text when I read this to my kids to say something like, "Sometimes we feel lots of things at once。 Our emotions get jumbled, and that's okay。" I don't think it's realistic or advisable to compartmentalize so rigidly as to put distinct feelings in jars。 But the monster is really cute and I am happy to read this with some slight modifications。 。。。more

I love this story for what it represents for children。 It shows them that it is absolutely okay to feel whatever emotions it is that they are feeling。 It discusses the reason why the monster is feeling that particular emotion and has great pictoral representation。 It can go brilliantly with a colourscheme within a classroom so that the feelings and mood of the class can easily be ascertained by adults in the room, and those emotions can be talked through and processed in a constructive manner。

Alice Spuffard

A great book exploring feelings and emotions。 This could easily be used in a KS1 class to discuss feelings and would be very appropriate for young ages。

Como maestra no recomiendo par nada este libro, no aporta nada a los niños más allá de los colores del monstruo, no deja nada a la imaginación, además de darles todo hecho a nuestros pequeños。
